COWLES LITERARY COMMONS, OPEN BOOK 2ND FLOOR

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

The Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML) at Saint John’s University has curated a new exhibition currently on view at the Minnesota Center for the Book Arts. Located in the Cowles Literary Commons, the exhibition is free and open to the public now through July 8th, 2018.

The exhibition conveys the universality of handwriting, and shows how manuscripts have brought communities together throughout history. It features codices, scrolls, and other handwritten documents from around the world. Visitors will see samples of manuscripts from HMML’s own collections. Included are handwritten items from the European Middle Ages, Ethiopia, the Middle East, and South Asia representing diverse cultures, languages and faith traditions.

Learn more about the centrality of handwriting to both the human experience and creativity by viewing this intriguing exhibition.
