Whitney Buccicone

Whitney Buccicone was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML) in August 2025, becoming the first to hold this position. She is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization, including budget oversight and the leadership of staff across information technology, cataloging and metadata, advancement and communications, and programming.

Prior to joining HMML, she served as Executive Director of the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association, Director of Discovery Services at the University of Virginia, and Special Collections Cataloging Librarian at the University of Washington. She began her career at the Lilly Library, Indiana University, where she held multiple cataloging positions before moving into administrative leadership.

She holds two master’s degrees, in Arts Administration and Library Science, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, all from Indiana University Bloomington.

What she enjoys most about her work: “I view my role as one of both stewardship and service which allows me the opportunity to support staff in achieving success in their roles, creating an environment where they can thrive professionally and contribute meaningfully to the organization. I take particular satisfaction in ensuring that HMML’s mission is fulfilled in all its dimensions, from preserving cultural heritage to advancing scholarship.”
