Universitätsbibliothek Salzburg: HMML Repository

Universitätsbibliothek Salzburg

The University of Salzburg was established in 1623. Over the years it has collected a relatively large number of manuscripts. Approximately half of them were acquired from dissolved Austrian monastic libraries and from Italy, while the other half is comprised primarily of lectures by university professors, state ordinances, and local historical documents. Some of its codices were transferred to Munich and Vienna in the 19th c. HMML filmed 502 manuscripts dating from the 8th to 17th c.
