Thüringer Universitäts Und Landesbibliothek Jena: HMML Repository

Thüringer Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Jena

At the Thuringian University and State Library in Jena (founded 1557), HMML filmed c. 500 manuscripts, dating from the 9th to the 17th c. The provenance of the manuscripts can be traced through the various shelf mark patterns: Ms. El. (Electoralis), Ms. Sag. (from Caspar Sagittarius), Ms. Bos.(from Johann Andreas Bose), Ms. Bud. (from Christian Gottlieb Buder). An interesting subgroup within the Bose collection are the manuscripts from Georg Rörer, one of Luther's closest followers, and which give an insider's view of the 16th-c. Reformation.
