Frančiškanski samostan Kostanjevica v Novi Gorici

The Franciscan Friary of Kostanjevica, in Nova Gorica, houses a manuscript collection that is an important repository of ecclesiastical and cultural heritage from the Gorizia region. A significant portion of the collection was transferred from the former Franciscan monastery at Sveta Gora after its suppression in the late eighteenth century, thereby preserving materials that might otherwise have been lost. The holdings include liturgical, theological, devotional, and historical manuscripts dating primarily from the early modern period, as well as archival records documenting Franciscan pastoral, educational, and scholarly activity. Together with related archival collections, these manuscripts provide valuable evidence for the religious, intellectual, and linguistic history of the Slovenian and wider Inner Austrian cultural space.
