Imam Zaid bin Ali Cultural Foundation, Zaydi Manuscript Tradition (ZMT) Project at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ
Yemen’s minority Zaydi-tradition Muslim community has been caught between the forces fighting for control of this strategically positioned country. Their manuscripts preserve a rich Islamic intellectual tradition that sheds valuable light on the formative centuries and diverse currents of Islam. In the Zaydi Manuscript Tradition Project, HMML has partnered with the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, to provide an online home for Zaydi manuscripts held in Yemen and repositories around the world. HMML has also partnered with the Imam Zaid bin Ali Cultural Foundation to photograph Zaydi manuscript collections in Yemen that have not yet been digitized.
